Meet our Physiotherapist Ashley Flynn
Meet Ashley, our dedicated and experienced Physiotherapist, who graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Curtin University, and has been part of the South Perth Physiotherapy team since 2015. Ash has a unique insight into the importance of Physiotherapy in returning to play, perform, and succeed after injury, with his years of clinical, sports and personal experience of Physiotherapy.
Ash believes in a holistic approach to Physiotherapy, combining evidence-based techniques, specialised and individualised exercises, and excellent manual therapy to optimise recovery and promote long-term well-being. Having personally undergone ACL reconstruction, a Later-jet repair for a shoulder dislocation, and various joint sprains, muscular strains, and injuries, Ash understands firsthand the challenges associated with rehabilitation, surgery and return to sport. His personal experiences have given him invaluable insights into the physical and emotional aspects of recovery.
Ashley’s areas of interest is not only sports rehabilitation, but also treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, the prevention of sports injuries, performance enhancement, chronic disease management and chronic low back pain. His knowledge and passion for these areas enable him to tailor treatment plans to address the unique needs of every individual, ensuring optimal outcomes.
In addition to his clinical practice, Ash has served as the Physiotherapist for the Perth Redbacks NBL1 (Formerly State Basketball League) since 2014. This role allows him to work closely with elite athletes, honing his skills in sports injury management and rehabilitation, and further enhancing his understanding of the intricacies of athletic performance and recovery. Ash has also worked with the Canning Tigers Football club, and with individuals suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis in Shenton Park, utilising group exercise and hydrotherapy to manage this challenging condition.
When he is not helping others on their path to recovery, Ash engages in various activities that reflect his passion for an active lifestyle. Whether he is shooting hoops, cycling around the scenic Swan River, walking his beloved four-legged friend Jimmy, exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving, or cheering on the West Coast Eagles and Sacramento Kings, his dedication to fitness, health and well-being is woven into every aspect of his life.
With Ash as your Physiotherapist, you will not only benefit from his qualifications and professional expertise, but also from his understanding of the rehabilitation journey.
