According to the Australian Physiotherapy Association website, “Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease and disability through physical means. Physiotherapists are experts in movement and function who work in partnership with their patients, assisting them to overcome movement disorders, which may have been present from birth, acquired through accident or injury, or are the result of ageing or life-changing events.

Physiotherapy can help recover from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, and increase mobility. A physiotherapist can also help you prevent further injury by listening to your needs and working with you to plan the most appropriate treatment for your condition, including setting goals and treatment outcomes”.

Basically, if you are unsure, come and have a chat to one of our physiotherapists. If for some reason physiotherapy isn’t the required treatment at the time, for example, if you require intervention with a doctor or specialist, our physiotherapists can direct you in the right way and give you the appropriate advice to optimise your recovery.

We have a great team of male & female physiotherapists at South Perth Physiotherapy. All our physiotherapists are experienced and highly qualified health professionals. Through further study, higher degrees, on-going education, and sporting team associations our physiotherapists are very well equipped to help diagnose, treat, and manage all types of sporting and musculoskeletal injuries and disorders.

We offer a wealth of knowledge in Sports, Musculoskeletal, Pilates and Continence and Women and Mens’ Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. For specific interests, visit our team page or call our front desk staff on 93686599 to see if we can help with your condition. We treat more than you think we do!

For a more detailed answer to this question, see our “services” section. Treatment will be along the lines of physical and conservative means.

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. Depending on your injury we will need to see how you can move, and potentially be able to expose the body part we are treating. We will always respect your modesty, and drape you appropriately as needed. It’s important that you feel comfortable while working with us.

Physiotherapy consults are up to 30 minutes. Extended consults are also available. The physiotherapist will assess you and deliver the most optimal treatment needed at that time, as well as discussing the most optimal treatment plan to manage your condition. Clinical Rehabilitation sessions are 55 minutes in length.

No, you do not need a referral to see one of our physiotherapists. If you have a worker’s compensation or motor vehicle accident claim, or you are eligible for DVA, you need to see your doctor before attending our clinic. You may also be eligible for physiotherapy treatment partly covered by Medicare under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program. Have a chat to your doctor to see if you are eligible for this.

Yes, payment is required on the day of service. For our clinical exercise rehabilitation and yoga services, we offer an upfront deposit option to pay for multiple classes, saving having to pay every time. We also offer HICAPs so rebates can be claimed for physiotherapy services and clinical exercise rehabilitation (instructed by a physiotherapist) at the time of payment. Check with your private health fund on rebate amounts.

In order to optimise treatment, the area of complaint will be examined. Please come prepared with the appropriate clothing to have this assessment. For example, for a shoulder injury, a small singlet may be preferable and for a groin injury say, a small pair of shorts. A towel is usually draped over patients for comfort.

Please also bring any relevant scans or medical information that may help the treating physiotherapist and any relevant equipment/material associated with the injured body part. For example, an ongoing ankle issue may require the physiotherapist to assess your footwear.

For clinical exercise rehabilitation, comfortable clothes that do not restrict movement are advised. If there is anything your physiotherapist requires you to bring along, they will advise you in your appointment.

Also remember that if you are presenting with a worker’s compensation or motor vehicle accident claim, or you are eligible for DVA or EPC (see “Do I need a referral?”), you need to see your doctor before attending our clinic and present with the required paperwork.

If you are using your private health insurance to help fund your consult, remember to bring your card!

We have dedicated 4 hour parking bays right outside our door on Salisbury Avenue. There is a dedicated ACROD bay nearest to the door as well.

We understand that there can be a need to change your appointment due to unforeseen circumstances. As our Physiotherapists are booked by appointment, we appreciate that as soon as you are aware you cannot make your appointment, kindly call reception at 9368 6599 at your earliest convenience.

South Perth Physiotherapy have a cancellation policy that is in place to ensure our Physiotherapists and clients on waitlist are not inconvenienced by late attendances, late cancellations or no shows.

This cancellation policy is part of our new client forms and states that cancellation or rescheduling within 12 hours of a scheduled appointment or group session will incur the cost of the group session or a $50 fee, whichever is less.

Cancellations within 6 hours or non attendance will incur a full fee of the scheduled appointment.

This fee will not be covered by your Health Insurance, Medicare, Workers Compensation or ICWA claim and must be paid before your next appointment.

Please note that severe illness, Covid and compassionate reasons will be assessed at the discretion of management for late cancellations. Please note that reception is not responsible for this discretion.
